Edison Dushahra (Dasara) Festival 2016
September 12, 2016 - Edison's Indian community will celebrate the Hindu festival Dasara Navratri on October 1, 2016 on the first day of nine-day festival.
Dasara festival this year is from October 1-11, 2016.
The 2016 New Jersey Dushahra Utsav Navratri festival celebrations are scheduled to take place on October 1 at Lake Papaianni Park, 100 Municipal Blvd, Edison NJ 08817 across the street from Edison City Hall.
The one-day program includes burning of a 30ft effigy of the demon king Ravan, Ram Leela, astrology, mehndi, fireworks, ethnic food stalls, kids rides, arts and crafts fair, cultural programs etc.
Edison Police Department estimates several thousand people are expected to attend the Dasara festival.
If you plan on attending, get there early because pedestrian and vehicular traffic will be heavy near Rt 27 and Talmadge Road, according to the Edison Police Dept.
Also, Dasara festival parking at Lake Papaianni Park may also be tight.
